Computer Purchase Program for U of U Students

You made the right choice to attend the University of Utah. Now, let the University Campus Store’s UTECH department help you make the best technology choice. We have several computer systems (laptop and desktop) from which to choose. We periodically update our product line of computer systems and accessories based on market availability and customer preferences. We stay as current as possible to ensure you get the best computer for your needs. Our consultants can even assist you in purchasing a technology package that is user friendly and right for your course of study. If you are shopping for a computer package, UTECH at the University Campus Store has a computer purchase plan for U of U Students that is customized to meet your needs!

How the Plan Works

The University Campus Store Computer Purchase Plan is based on an initial payment of 25% plus 7.8% administrative fee, followed by 12 equal monthly payments, interest free. First payment is due on the day you receive your computer. Remaining installments will be made monthly on the 25th, starting the month following the purchase.

Requirements
  • Current full-time U of U enrollment
  • Completion of two semesters at the U in the past year or parental signature as cosigner.
  • Consent to a credit check to determine eligibility for the applicant, and cosigner if applicable.
  • GPA of at least 2.0 or better
  • Student is at least 18 years of age or has a co-signer

Payroll Deduction Program for U of U Employees

All eligible University of Utah faculty and staff can enroll in a payroll deduction program that provides interest-free financing for qualifying technology purchases.


Guidelines for the University Campus Store Payroll Deduction Program:
  • Payroll deduction is currently available for computer hardware and software purchases only; it cannot be used for textbooks, general books, educational supplies, merchandise, or other services.
  • University employees are eligible for payroll deduction after they have been employed for 90 days. They also must be working 30 hours per week.
  • Only University employees may use payroll deduction; family members are not eligible for payroll deduction. The employee must be present to sign the Payroll Deduction Election and Authorization Form. Employee must present a valid University ID at the time of purchase.
  • An initial setup fee of $20 will be payable at the time of purchase, with no additional fees or interest. After a product is purchased on this program, the payroll deduction will begin in the next available payroll period.
  • After a product is purchased on this program, the payroll deduction will begin with the next paycheck.
  • Only one deduction is allowed at one time.
  • Payroll Deduction Credit Limit is $2,000. Any amount exceeding this must be paid at the time of plan setup.
  • NO RETURNS FOR ITEMS PURCHASED ON PAYROLL

We can hold your order until you can return with your ID card. We cannot process an order without a copy of your ID card.

 
 

Yes, but you cannot exceed the established credit limits detailed in the table above.

 
 

If the amount owed is not satisfied/paid through payroll, you will have 30 days to remit full payment before it is sent to collections. If a payment plan is set up you will be charged a $10.00 per month or 1.5% interest rate each month (whatever is higher). The Campus Store reserves the right to waive this fee.

 
 

Yes. On the forms, we will list the amount paid, and then list, “balance of $___ to be paid through payroll deduction.”

In the winter and currently, all orders go out Monday-Friday. Orders placed on weekends, holidays, or after 4:00 pm MT will leave the next outgoing shipping day.

In the summer, Standard Shipping orders go out Monday-Wednesday only. If you order Standard Shipping on Thursday or Friday, your package will leave the following Monday. Express and Overnight Shipping orders go out Monday-Friday. Orders placed on weekends, holidays, or after 4:00 pm MT will leave the next outgoing shipping day.

 
 

You will see a deduction code and an abbreviated description such as STR067 - Campus Store. The total on your pay stub is cumulative for the year; if you have multiple payroll deductions, the total on your pay stub will reflect total payroll deductions for the year.

 
 

No. We need to stay within the established guidelines of 3, 6, 8, 10, or 12 deduction periods.

 
 

The deduction will start on the paycheck for the pay period the payroll deduction was purchased. (1st through 15th - paycheck dated the 22nd; 16th through the EOM –paycheck dated the 7th)

Occasionally, we adjust our order deadline to reflect high capacity times. If so, you’ll see a countdown timer for orders on our website.
